Board Certified Plastic Surgeons Use Laser Treatment for Spider Veins
Board certified plastic surgeons often use laser treatment to spider vein removal. Spider veins, typically seen on the face and legs, are the dilation of a small group of blood vessels just under the skin’s surface. They can be readily seen, and appear to be red, blue or purple lines, sunbursts or web-like patterns. On the face, spider veins may be related to chronic sun, or exposure to any extreme temperatures. Fair skinned people tend often have them on either the nose or cheeks.
When treated with a laser, the handpiece is attracted to the blood vessels or leg veins, and will close them. The device uses a beam of light to target blood vessels close underneath the surface of the skin.As the handpiece is moved along the vein, you will notice that the veins close up, and disappear.
Laser spider vein removal treatments are typically used in coordination with sclerotherapy where saline is injected into larger veins to collapse them. This is because the sclerotherapy will collapse the veins, allowing for the laser to fine tune and close up any remaining veins, allowing for effective spider vein removal. This kind of treatment coordination is effective for spider veins on the face, nose, arms and legs.
