Brow Lift or Forehead Lift
A brow lift, or forehead lift, corrects the tell tale aging of drooping brows and wrinkles across the forehead or between the brows. Not only do these features make you look older, but can also give the impression that you are angry, tired, or even sad. A brow lift lifts the eyebrows up to a more natural position, giving a smoother-looking forehead and a younger appearance.
People who are interested in having a forehead lift procedure can be either men and women between the ages of 40 to 60 years. Some people believe that they need eyelid surgery to correct drooping eyelids, when actually their brows have shifted, leading to extra skin over their eyelids which changes and impairs their vision.
Candidates for a Brow Lift include patients with nerve or traumatic injuries that have caused their facial features to droop. However, a forehead lift will not rid the area of fine wrinkle lines, acne scars, age spots or smoker’s creases.
One kind of forehead lift, known as an Endoscopic Forehead Lift, uses only three to five short scalp incisions less than one inch long, instead of one long one. A sophisticated piece of equipment called an endoscope, which is a thin flexible tube connected to a camera is used to view and perform surgery through incisions. Benefits of the Endoscopic Brow Lift include less scarring and numbness, and less severe lifting of the hairline.
A forehead lift or brow lift is most commonly used to reduce the appearance of aging in people over the age of 40. Anyone who has deep furrows in the forehead region or a drooping brow, that may impede their sight, can benefit from the surgery.
