Eyelid Surgery – Eye Rejuvenation
Eyelid surgery is only one of the ways possible to rejuvenate the area around the eyes. There are five other conditions that cause problems around the eyes: crows feet, deep tear troughs, dark circles under eyes, loose-crepe skin around the eyes, excess fat below the eyes. Selecting the right procedure or combination of procedures is necessary to strip signs of aging from the eyes.
In the case of crows feet, the skin is being creased by muscles below the surface. The muscles must be relaxed with Botox to fix this problem.
If deep tear troughs are causing dark circles under eyes, it is from volume loss in the infraorbital region. This makes someone look chronically tired. Volume must be replaced, usually dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm can effectively solve the problem.
Dark circles under eyes can also be caused by excess pigment, small blood vessels, or even blue reticular veins. Treatment could be the use of the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Fraxel. Intenses Pulsed Light (IPL) photorejuvenation treats damaged skin without disrupting the skin’s surface.
Loose or crepe skin around the eyes should be addressed by tightening the skin by adding collagen and elastin to the dermis to smooth out the surface of the skin. Fraxel Laser Treatments or ActiveFx Laser Treatments are two very effective treatment methods.
Excess fat below the eyes: As we age, our retro-orbital fat, which is the fat behind the eyeball, drops from behind the eye to below the eye showing up as an unsightly bulge below the eye. This excess bulge below the eye makes you look chronically tired. Removing this excess fat can be accomplished with a laser lipo treatment such as Smart Lipo.
Rejuvenation of the eye area can be started with non surgical procedures to solve problems like crows feet and dark circles under eyes and only use eyelid surgery if needed. Ask your plastic surgeon to discuss all your non invasive alternatives before you opt for surgery.
